A meeting was held in dallas today by select texas chevy dealers to place some votes and make some decisions on the 5th gen "unveiling." The meeting taught me this:
that lot full of camaros in canadia are not for test driving, crash testing, and do not have 0's for vin numbers. at least most of them.
100 of the cars will be distributed to dealers in dallas tx and houston tx...dallas will receive 50 SS camaros and houston will receive 50 V6 camaros. This will all take place early April (i forgot the date sorry).
The dealers have been instructed to keep the cars covered at their dealerships until the "official unveiling on may 6th.
BUT before they are taken to the individual dealerships, the SS camaros in dallas will have a public viewing at victory park in downtown which will be followed by a police escort to Ft. Worth. (thats right, a police escort of a 50 SS camaro parade).
Im not sure about the festivities of the houston camaros but im sure it will be a party too.

Everything I just told you is true

I am not believing any of that. The General will want to sell the cars, not make a spectacle of them. They will want customers to get their cars so that they will get the money for building them. They are not in buisness to make cars, they are in buisness to make money and they do this by making cars. The best sales people are satisfied customers, not staged events to dazzle the Toyohondamazduki drivers which of could care less.

Yup I agree with these guys. My BS flag is being waved right now. BUT....if it is true I sure hope someone brings a video camera.

Does GM explicitly instruct the dealers that they must keep 'em under wraps until May 6th? If not, then bear with me for a moment...

A possibility that hadn't been mentioned here yet would be an agreement between some dealerships in Texas (some around Dallas and some in the Houston area) to pool their initial Camaros for a brief attention-garnering media event before the official unveiling. It would cost relatively little and having it on the evening news might catch the eye of people who know the car is coming but aren't following it on a daily basis. I've got a couple guys at work who have said things along the lines of "as soon as I know they've got one at the dealership, I'll go check it out" -- making sure these guys know "they've got one at the dealership" seems worthwhile.

Just a thought...

My local dealer contacted me to set up a big car show in early May at their dealership for the unveiling of the new camaro. He said they were to be shipped out all at once. One for each dealer. He said they had no choice as to what they were getting. The cars would be going to a regional warehouse and from there would be sent out super secretly to the dealerships.
I was told to not expect any personal cars to be delivered until after that.

I'm ready for a big ass Texas Party.:party::party:

I do not believe this to be true either, seeing how we are the Largest Volume Chevrolet Dealer in the Country, I'm sure that we would have been invited to this "meeting". just my 2 cents

Yep! I'd say that pretty much clinches it! :)

Unless, of course, there is a vast conspiracy against you because you are the Largest Volume Chevrolet Dealer in the Country...

Anyone see where I left my tinfoil hat?

OK........

...........once more with feeling..........

Dealers can deliver the Camaro as soon as it arrives and the invoice arrives... (sold orders)

We would hope that they'll hold the V6 we ship them for May 6th --

The cars you see in the pictures are not EX Vins -- they are CTF vehicles.

We will be building a V6 for each dealer in the country. The Dealer has no control over color/trim/options -

Camaro VIN 100001 comes off the line on Monday morning --

There are no 'secret' shipments.

That's all for now!

Just spoke to my salesman who said my V6 would be in the 1st April build, and delivery would coincide with the May 6th unveiling.

Big difference from what he said last month - that they were receiving one Camaro in March and it would be mine.

I'm inclined to believe that's just a big glass of poo you unloaded on us.
