The past couple of weeks has seen several unauthorized photos leaked to the public -- they've all caught us by surprise -- and, as you know by now, Mr. Bob Lutz has ordered that we remove all the cammo off of the mules and early builds...and in fact Mr. Ed Peper is encouraging you to actively look for Camaros on the road and to take pics of them.....

The overwhelming response has been positive -- altho. the first couple of days after each picture hits the net -- we have some 'rough spots' -- in terms of comments and behavior.....

That is probably not a bad thing because -- in most cases (not all) people are passionate about this car............

I want everyone to think about something.....

There are a lot of GM's -- in fact the industry's finest -- working on this car.

We want this to be the best Camaro ever -- in terms of straight out performance-- in terms of ride and handling for every-day use -- but also the best in terms of handing on a road course as well. (some of you forget that the late 4th gen cars will STILL shame most of what's on the road today......regardless of price...) -- and we want it to be the best in terms of interior comfort and quietness.........

We want this Camaro to be a car you WANT to drive everyday -- no matter where you're going -- no matter what the traffic conditions are.... We want it to put a smile on your face everytime you open the door and get in and fire up the engine.

BUT -- (pay attention) -- we are concentrating on something else as well....

PRIDE OF OWNERSHIP.......

Yes -- PRIDE OF OWNERSHIP....

We want you to go out and climb into one of these new Camaros -- we want you to fire up the engine -- we want to actually SEE the look on your face as you floor the accelerator for the first time

(PUT THAT SEATBELT ON........) --

.......we want you to be so blown away that you can't write the check or sign the papers fast enough.

......we want to watch as you park it somewhere and turn around - time and time again -- as you walk away from it - with that sense of pride that says "Yup -- THAT'S ALL MINE! -- beware, all of you who drive something so inferior........"

We want you to enjoy the respect this car will bring to those of you who take it to the track...

We want people who may not even KNOW what a Camaro is -- to take one look -- and say "OMG -- what is that and where do I sign?"

We take this very seriously -- very seriously. Most of us were around to watch in mourning as the 4th gen 'rode off into the sunset' -- believe me -- you don't KNOW what pain that was for most of us -- you don't KNOW the sleepless nights -- and painful days. Yes -- it was very much like losing a child to some of us. (no -- I'm NOT kidding....)

So - just understand that we know there's a high expectation -- and we intend to meet those expectations. WE have a lot at stake here -- this is our livelihood -- and it's our PASSION............

Yup -- not everyone will like the console gages -- but for every one who doesn't like 'em, I -think we'll have at least one -- probably a lot more -- that think they're the 'cat's jammies." And another won't like the back-up lamps -- and another may not like the interior fabric....but we think that overall -- this Camaro is gonna BLOW YOU AWAY.................

So - enjoy the pics -- keep the CIVILIZED discussion going -- but PLEASE WAIT to draw final conclusions until after you've touched and felt a new Camaro in person.

'Nuff said for now.........

I love the console gauges. I was hoping they would stay. When Octane told me they may stay on as optional redundant gauges..I already told myself I will get them no matter what. The backup lights don't concern me any. They're there, they're government regulated, not much one can do about it.

I'm all about pride of ownership. I was doing exactly that when I FIRST got my S-10 (wasn't rusty, all 4 speakers worked, glasspack exhaust struck fear into individuals I passed, was awesome).

Even if I DO end up getting a V6 (which I hope is the DI V6 or some other, newer, more badass V6) that doesn't mean I'm going to leave it alone. Air intake, new exhaust, pulleys(if they exist for the V6). Enough work and that badboy will have the HP rating of a L76, and still get 30mpg highway. :D

EDIT: All I care about the interior is that it still LOOKS like the concept (gauges, etc.) and has comfortable seats. After owning 2 GMs that were like armchairs on wheels (1988 Olds Cutlass Calais and now 1997 S-10 LS)....I must have soft(cloth) seats. :D

The two tone camaro in your signature is incredibly awesome! I have been trying to figure out how I will be able to paint mine myself and that sure gives me some cool ideas. Tasteful, elegant, fast looking, forward leaning graphics, excellent!:D

I always have been, and always will be proud to be a Camaro owner. :)

On August 27, 2002 - the very day when the last 4th Gens rolled off the assembly line at Ste Therese Assembly - I was up late at night completing the finishing touches on a Camaro/Firebird tribute presentation.
Lemme tell ya, when I watched the finish project play on my screen... knowing the cars had ended production, I couldn't help but let the tears roll down my face.
That was a very emotional day for me.

Now, backing up a few years.....

On May 4, 1994 I took delivery of a brand new shiny red 1994 Camaro Z28.
The feelings I had that day as I saw that car for the first time... touched it for the first time... sat in it for the first time... drove it for the first time... it was a level of happiness and elation that was so incredible that it's pretty much indescribable.

...and I CAN NOT WAIT to re-live that experience come spring 2009!!! :D

I have been a HUGE GM guy all my life. Owned 5 Camaros too. I have been anticipating the new Camaro since the minute GM said it was coming back. That being said, I feel very fortunate that people like Fbodfather and the rest of the men and women working on the new Camaro are so motivated and passionate!!! This speaks volumes about the direction of GM, and I can safely say the the predicted early demise of the American Auto Industry was greatly exagerrated! :patriot:

PRIDE OF OWNERSHIP.

Well said. That's what I will feel towards this car. I've never actually owned a Camaro, but I have had several Chevys and currently have a C4 Corvette. There have been a few unreachable dream cars in my lifetime, and this is the first car that I have ever wanted to actually buy new, and also been able to.

And Super6, I will be disappointed if you DON'T sign my car somewhere. :D

We can all get Camaros then roadtrip to the plant and have people from the line autograph them in various places! :D

:werd: Okey, now to serious matters. From what I've seen of the leaked photos, personally I don't think GM has anything to worry about, I think they hit the target dead on. And yes, even though the finish is rough on the test mules you can tell that by production we're gonna get an awsome inside. I just can't wait to get my hands on this new Camaro.

I'm getting the chally

From my first GM, an 81 Olds Omega, to my current 2005 pmb m6 GTO, I have always been proud to own and drive GM cars! My GTO has really taken my passion for GM cars to a higher level. But when I bought it I wanted a new Camaro that wasn't available yet. Now that my dream of buying a brand new Camaro is getting closer I'm extremely excited to getting behind the wheel for my first test drive!

I gotta chime in here -- Oshawa has a long proud history of building some of the best cars in North America -- meaning they outscore the transplants.....
........and THAT, my friends, is why we're building 'em in Oshawa -- the men and women of Oshawa have a 'can do' attitude!
