I know its been discussed by some about a top recall. I had the recall done last week and the only issue I have had with my top since buying mine was a seal didnt seam to go back in place after putting top back up. I was wondering if those that have had numerous complaints with their tops have had this done yet and has it resolved your issue (it did mine)?
Also was wondering if those with the most problems did you leave your tops down alot while parked in your garage or not?

Have had mine for over a year now , I don't leave the top down when she's parked with the exception of the gas station but do take the top down any day the weather permits sometimes 6 days a week. I have had the recall done which seems to have stopped the wet floor board stuff but the wear stop above the passenger window is getting worse by the day. It may be that once it hits a certain wear point the recall measures couldn't stop it. A few weeks ago the dealer agreed to replace the top and says it's on order.

Went into Chevrolet of Puyallup today to follow up on the 'repair' from the TSB. A wire was now sticking out from the side and wind noise had gotten worse. To my surprise both dept. managers met me at the door and immediately started inspecting the top. By the time they were done they were fuming at the situation. They started a mind meld of ideas on how to approach both GM and resolving the problem. They were excited to hear (from me) that GM had a new mechanism for future Camaro production and immediately went about finding out about it. To nobody's surprise GM has been pretty mum to their dealers on the subject. Interestingly enough Brandon (of C5's GM Customer Service Rep fame) had contacted them and urged some action...though to be honest I don't feel that these guys needed much urging! In any case, I'll keep you guys updated on what happens next. The plan for now is to fix the current top with the ultimate goal of replacing it with the new top/mechanism down the line. As things stand right now, I'm pretty optimistic. Far more than I expected at this stage of the game!

Just got mine back from the dealer and noticed more wind noise as I was driving . My wife comments that she can see something flapping in the wind above the passengers side rear window. When we stopped I found that the rubber seal didnt seam back into the channel above the rear window. I could see a small diamater stainless cable showing. I seamed it back in and I will be watching it the next time I drive it.

Sorry to hear that.... keep us updated :)

Sorry to hear that steveB. It looks like poor workmanship is a common problem. I am very reluctant to take mine in for that exact reason.
Its the dealer..IMO they need to make it right.. if you got a good dealer.. they will :)

I'm finally a victim of the top problems. While on Vacation in Yellowstone, my 5th bow bracket broke thus separating the rear seal and making the top VERY loose. I originally had put off having the top replaced because of the increased problems after the replacement. However, I now will be getting the top and 5th bow replaced. Hopefully this will cure the ill's of the early vert builds (Tib and I both had week 1&2 builds). Hopefully GM will step up and get this fixed and well as offer an extended warranty on the top. If it happens again, I'll demand an entire new mechanism.

For now, waiting on parts and NOT driving because of possible water leakage.

I still have my fingers crossed with mine. I got it one week later than you and did my own top fix early on when people started to have problems. Its doing OK so far no marks or rub marks but I do notice it goes up uneven sometimes and it worries me watching it in the mirror.

I too thought I had dodged most of the "problems", but mine went out of the blue with no warning other than a slight "pop/snap" sound. What really bothers me is that my vert is/was garaged during the winter/fall months, and the top maaaybeee..gets cycled 2-3 times a week. My wife has driven it to work 2 times, and me once since April. So you see, it really hasn't had that much of a work out; either it's up, or down the rest of the time. It has a total of 11K miles with 6k being on 2 long trips. What happens if I really start using it? More problems and rub marks?

I wouldn't discuss any home repairs....GM will take any opportunity to weasel out of responsibility for these tops.....I won't even put protectant on until I'm sure I have a keeper. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but there are so many horror stories from folks trying to get their tops fixes......my expectations aren't high.

Keep us posted guys! I'll do the same!

Recall update.....

Well, I hope I have given the dealership enough time to figure out how to do the repair. I have an appt. for tomorrow.... I don't want them to touch ANYTHING else. I guess we will see.....

Had the recall completed; BOTH! there is also a recall for the A.C. that I have not seen any posts about. Svr. Mgr. told me about it.
As for the top, the wind noise is still present, coming from right side rear. As for the cover, I do like the new bungee loops. Will post pix to show... old top/new, rubber sleeve covers, pleather peeling on the old top, install sheet.

Hi Everyone,

I am new here. I have had my 11 ss Vert for a couple of weeks. I only see a couple of pin size wear marks above both the driver and passenger side. I am a little concerned about that. My car is a certified so I guess I am ok! i have had many covertibles and all tops except the mazda has had some issues. My big problem is finding a dealer in the DFW area that knows anything about the tops.....Kinda strange. Can anyone help?
