Chevy High Performance's January 2015 issue has an article on them ... I didn't read it, so I can't really comment.

It really depends on the cam you choose. The more aggressive it is (specifically overlap) the more stall you need as a rule of thumb.

The best thing to do is research a good brand of TC (I use a ProTorque unit as I like their clutch material and they run cooler than most and a call to them answered all my ?'s and left me with a good feeling) then call them and tell them what cam/setup you have and what you want from the car (shift manners, whether or not you are going to add a cooler etc)... My cam is a mild stage 1, kind of like the GT9 but a hint more ooomph and I went with a 2400-2600 stall. runs cool (albeit I still added a cooler since my HP levels are up there) and no hard hits from it....

What are your goals? Best 60' and ET you want a 3600-3800, and a triple disc is all that will hold up to a modified LS3. FTI is always our 1st choice as we have run most all the well known names through the years in our drag cars. Still a few others that are good as well. With these being lock-up, there is no "loose" feel on the highway and around town unless you stand on it, still feel near stock.

I have an FTI 4200 stall converter in my Camaro Twin Turbo V-6 and it is awesome!!!!!!!!
I live in the city and drive it daily and you cannot hardly notice any difference from a stock converter for normal driving except when you nail it. And when you do nail it, if feels like someone stuck a big block in the car. It is the best converter I have ever had. Drivability is perfect. No problem for a street machine. Love it!
