American Axle, UAW reach tentative deal

American Axle and the United Auto Workers reached an agreement late Friday night to end the 81-day long strike against the Detroit-based supplier. Company spokeswoman Renee Rogers confirmed an agreement has been reached, but gave no further details just before 11:30 p.m. Friday.

The UAW and American Axle have reached a tentative agreement on a new labor contract, the union and the company confirmed late Friday. Pending ratification by union members, the deal marks the end of a nearly 12-week walkout, one of the longest automotive strikes in recent history.
