The United States Senate today slammed the brakes on a wide-ranging energy bill that would hike vehicle fuel economy standards 40 percent to 35 mpg during the 2011 to 2020 model years.
The fuel economy provision, potentially the biggest change in the corporate average fuel economy program in 30 years, is not in dispute.
But for other reasons the Senate failed to muster enough “yes” votes to move the bill this morning.
