Ok, we have a idea of production dates.
But we have little on the engine specs. So I was curious about what people want as the "1 V8", and I mean realistically. I have seen ideas of S/C 6.2 to LS7s; but i like to know what expect GM to really deliver. I want a LS3 as that "1 V8", but i have heard from here and other forums that people predict an all-new unreleased engine, or a L76, or a L92s. So here's the poll. Please vote like GM is watching.:gr_patriot:

I figure with the way things are going in DC when it comes to CAFE standards and the like, the new Camaro will probably have to have DOD in order to avoid the inevitable gas guzzler taxes that will be imposed should the Democrats maintain control of Congress and win the White House in 2008. :BangHead:

I would be bet on the LS3 with DOD, but i voted without DOD only because the LS3 in the vette doesnt have it yet right now. Im a strong believer that if the vette cant have it, the camaro cant have it. But you are right, with Dems coming in; I think both cars will have it in 2009.

As for the mystery engine, who knows. Im hoping its over 400hp.

I want an aftermarket before the car comes out and right now the LS3 has a good start. I will be happier with DOD on the LS3 as long as it doesnt interfere with heavy modding and tuning (head/cam, injection, etc.)

The starting MSRP just dropped.........as well as first year sales.....GM has to come out of the gate running......we all know that. C'mon....everybody that has been asked to the "Summitt" or knows people in the know keeps saying, "GM is listening, they know what we want." That said, which one of you said we wanted less than the 'stang? C'mon step forward. The beatings will be painful, but swift.....promise. :bat: And that's what we know they have......The F-camp will most assuredly up the ante just prior to release. Also, I'm reminded of something Scott S has said......"forget what you know about GM's engine packages.....it's gonna be different by production." (If I misquoted you Scott, it wasn't intentional......just what I remember)

Octane, I believe you are right; but I hope you are wrong. I want to leave mustangs for this 5th gen, but this is starting to leer me away somewhat from GM.

Is the L76 an iron block?
I noticed its in:
L76 applications:

2007-present Chevrolet Suburban
2007-present Chevrolet Avalanche
2007-present Chevrolet Silverado
2007-present GMC Sierra
2007-present GMC Yukon XL

and hasn't the L76 been around since the 2006 VZ Commodore. So at the time S.S. said that wasn't it already out?

I guess I've always envisioned since I heard the Camaro was coming back, that it would obviously have to share some platform details, but that it would be a stand-out...........Believe me when I tell you that I am still pumped about the car....just not this speculation on engine packages.

Well, ive been hyped up to this point. I got that same feeling that i get when see how much taxes come out of my paycheck. It sucks, Im happy that I got my money, but it could of been more if it wasnt for taxes.

One thing is for sure, they're axing the Vortec 6L in truck engines after this year. They're putting in a 6.2l instead ;).

Same one that is in the Sierra Denali..if I remember correctly.

I like to see the LS3 with DOD in many vehicles, so the motor will be cheaper.

LS3 with long runner truck intake for the trucks and vans (call it a different engine)

Or I know it'll happen eventually. But I don't know if it'll happen right out of the gate. I still have a hunch that they will LAUNCH with 2 v6s and 1 v8(probably the L76) then maybe bring in a SS with the LS3 when the vert becomes available. I wouldn't doubt it with GM :D.

I'm a firm believer that we will see the LS3 in a Camaro.

In fact I believe in it so much... well go to this site and see where it goes:
http://www.ls3camaro.com

;)

It might not be till the 2nd year, but I would bet on it coming.
I glad. I will wait. I wanted the first year, but i guess not.:BangHead:
I hate to see a GTO like plan, LS1 first year; then Ls2 the next.
