Hahaha, jealousy from the Mopar crowd? :D

Challenger no doubt will be an awesome car, and I'm happy it's coming.

I just prefer the lighter, faster, better handling, lower emissions, more fuel-efficient, and less expensive Camaro. ;)

Again, enough said.

:gr_patriot:
I'm sure by the second year of the new camaro it wiil be able to take care of the Challenger and Mustang. Bob Lutz said they had enough HP if needed.
I personally don't see what's the fuss with the challenger. To me it looks like they didn't even try, like they just jumped on the retro bringing back an old muscle car wagon and just made the edges smother and said HERE IT IS! That's how it looks like to me, it's just nothing special IMO.

Same way I felt.

Also to me the car is everything a mustang is exept more expensive which is the mustangs high point(being cheaper)
I dunno I'm still on the fence with this....I'm gonna have to see both in person
Teh Camaro is going to smoke it when it comes out in every aspect especially in popularity. When TF 2 comes out they need to make a Challenger Decepticon now so Bumble will have something else to whoop on .
in their website they even have a thread for the camaro haters lol

also, i know that this hate from the challenger people is on from the moment these cars came out in the 60's. Have u read the comments on the challenger at motor trend? they said that in that movie called vanishing point where they used a challenger, they burned down a camaro as if it was a challenger, why? it's just hate lol
They Didi Use A Camaro As A Stunt Car..... Sadly Its True

and Vanishing Point Is A True Story About A Crazy Guy On A Police Chase.
Haters!
I was thinking of the challenger when it first was approved for production, but then the numbers came in.

The **** thing is going to weight in at 4100 lbs with a 6.1 HEMI that puts around the same as an LS3, so camaro wins on that.

Second, the HEMI based aftermarket doesnt have crap on the LS3aftermarket. I doubt we will see a Challenger with AFR heads, R&Ded cam from a different shops, and FAST intake. Hell, the thing is prolly going to be limited to P&P factory heads, exrude-honed intake, and custom spec cams with no shop R&D. If they do have part, expect to see BMW M3 aftermarket prices. Mopar is just as good as FRPP (ford) and still has nothing on GMPP.

Third, a dealer ( I know, grain of salt) stated to me that expect one to retail at 35k for the smaller V8 or R/T model; and that not the first place i have heard that.

Im sure the camaro will beat the challenger off the showroom, street, and track. First i was amazed by the concept, but even its gotten old to me. The camaro cues perfect 1st gen styling without making me feel like Im buying a car 30 years old.

As a mustang owner, I know my place with a mild bolt-on 2v 4.6 and Im sure that the 2009 360hp version owner will know theirs too. I sure that the 2009 mustang could hang even with a chally. But Im waiting on the first well-to-do older mopar guy in his shiney new chally, to pull up to the 5th gen. :roxor:

In addition to that, the LSx motors don't need false marketing to sell.
The new "HEMI" is not a hemi at all, it's all a marketing ploy.
I was just thinking about the HEMI, the 5.7 version.

There sure ALOT of 5.7 non-chevy engines.

350 is perfect displacement!

Copy cats!

lol. I have more venting on that note. :BangHead::BangHead:

The NEW challenger is going to be built on the same platform of a Dodge Charger, Magnum, and 300C. So basically its a two door charger and when it comes out, i bet people will be able to tell. So I guess, nothing is new with Dodge.
Here's the Automobile mag feature the Mopar guys were whining about:
http://www.automobilemag.com/new_and_future_cars/2009/top_picks/0702_2009_dodge_challenger/

Not only do they rank the Camaro above the Challenger, but also the 09 Supra, NSX, and Lotus Esprit!
MOPAR feer the LSX
there "hemi" is still in its bolt on infancy,
alsmost no real aftermarket, no strokers, heads, blocks
serious camshaft profiles, it will be awhile before they come close to
matching the N/A LSX engines if at all.
oem LSx heads are alredy at the point where they flow as good as racing
BBC heads, and blow any other oem small block head out of the water.
in the world.
the only way the MOPAR guys will compensate, will be the same the mod
motors have done for yrs. a big turbo or SC.
suckers (wher is the evil laff smiley when u need it?)

agree 100%, i have searched for vendor sites on the Mopar forums and I must say......:rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao:. At least GM and Ford listen somewhat with fans. Ford fanboys hate the probe being the new mustang year ago, so ford made the probe and different car for the mustang. GM is bring the camaro back and has more than kept up performance. As for Dodge, first people chanted no 4 door Charger, and they built it anyway to fug up the nameplate. They could of listened and made the a coronet and a two door version, then called it a charger. But no.
I will be surprised if the company, much less the challenger, will survive for long.

That is something for Camro to be #1 in Automobile mag too. If I remember correctly they are normaly pretty crittical on american cars.
Alot of you also failed to remember there is talks for an SRT-8 version with the new 6.4L which will be putting down close to 500 hp. Also the challenger is put on an all new chasis the LY platform. In all honesty noone can really say who's gonna come out on top. Mopar guys have been waiting for 30+ years for a car like this to hit the streets again. Gm guys have been waiting, what, 7 by the time it's released. I love both cars and it's going to come down to a test drive for me and my wife. And who cares whos better as long as they beat the pants off a mustang!!
