I will list tire sizes that are similar to OEM diameter, as this should help tire shoppers. The heights shown below are approximate, based on calculations. Refer to tire manufacturer's specs for the most accurate tire diameters. We recommend you stay within 0.5" (plus or minus) of the factory tire height in order to maintain accurate vehicle systems. This gives you an acceptable range of 28.2-29.3" diameters. Wheel widths shown are recommended, and only serve as a suggestion for proper fitment/appearance/performance.

Tony,

Thank you for this information. If I was looking at 20" aftermarket wheels, would it be possible to run 285/40-20 (on the 9-10 inch wheel as you recommend above) on all four corners?

Thanks in advance!

I'm starting my hunt for snow tires - was wondering if a 17 inch would work - get better traction (don't have 20 inch tires installed, stayed with base)
I found a set of 18" heritage steel wheels off an LS Camaro on ebay for very cheap. I mounted some studded 225/60/18 Firestone Winterforce tires and they passed every test they were faced with last winter.

2011 1lt ugrade to 20"s

I wanted to upgrade to 20 inch wheels but GM has a bulletin not recommending
this upgrade and will not do any programming, does any body have any reasons or have you done this.

I upgraded my 1LT at the dealership to chromed RS staggered 20"s. I have 3600 miles on the odometer and no problem at all with the wheels/tires or the request at the dealership. In fact they suggested it when I was looking for aftermarket 19" wheels. [URL="

I'm not sure why the upgrade would not be recommended. If you ordered an RS package...the car would have come with 20"s.

The only number that matters is the height of the tires. Look at the chart in the beginning of this thread to find a combination that will work. If you look at these charts you will see that all the tires average 28.5" tall +/- 1". That is the key.

Again, it does not matter. Watch.
245/55-18 = 28.6" tall
245/50-19 = 28.7" tall
245/45-20 = 28.7" tall

The key here is that they are all about 28.5" TALL. They will all work. When the wheel gets bigger the sidewall gets smaller and the height stays the same. Understand?

Yes the diameters are not the problem, GM stated the the components or not the same it may just be the sizes of the brakes, spring rates, etc, but that may be bull but sure don't want to spend a grand on wheels and some thing not be right

The only other thing I can think of is increased braking distance due to the 20's being a much heavier wheel and not having the Brembo's. Like when people put huge wheels on suv's and they stop like crap.

I'm wanting new rims..shiney ones for my 2010 Synergy GREEN MACHINE. Was thinking about staying with the 19" but maybe 20". Then I saw an add for used Boss rims w tires but 22. 265/35/22F and 285/35/22R says they work with the 35 series sidewall..I'm confussed, will they fit my Camaro without rubbing or any other issues? Hate to spend a couple grand and not be able to use them.. Thanks for any feedback I can get..
