Hello,
New member, just wanted to say "hey"! I am active-duty Air Force, and just past 20 years in the service. I am an aircraft hydraulic specialist, and work on the B-52H here in Minot, ND (yes, it's freakin' cold!!!). I hope to submit my retirement within the next few months, that is, if I can find a decent job on the "outside" somewhere (not an easy thing to do in the current economy). I've been an avid Camaro enthusiast ever since grade school, and consider myself fairly knowledgeable on the 1st Gen's. I previously owned & restored a numbers matching '69 350/350, but sold it prior to my last overseas tour (still kicking myself for that!!). I plan on ordering a new Camaro (2SS/RS) sometime before I get out, but want to wait a couple months to see how much (if any) the GM military discount will be applied. But it's very hard trying to be patient!!! I look forward to chatting with all of you. Talk to ya later...

:hello:Welcome from Long Island, NY. Glad you could join us, blazzin1. Are you leaning towards any particular colors or options for your 5th Gen?

Thank You for all your kind comments and welcomes. As for my Camaro, I am leaning towards 2SS/RS, IOM, White factory Rally Stripes, Orange Accent Interior, Hurst STS. Well, that's my dream anyway, now I just need to get the wife to buy off on it!!! The bad part is my wife wants me to trade-in my truck if I get the Camaro, but I'm just a little concerned about having my brand new dream car as my ONLY vehicle up here in the snow, ice, and horribly crappy roads!!! Really just wanted it to be summer toy, and still have my ol' truck to beat up!! Well, if it is my only option, I suppose I will do whatever is necessary to get my Camaro!!! We'll see what happens....

Later.....

Welcome from relatively warm California. Close to retiring? Great, you stay home with the kids and let the wife work the next 20 years. Let her pay for the Camaro!!!

I wish I could do that! I don't think she'd go for that plan though. Plus, with only her income, I wouldn't get my Camaro!!! I wonder if anyone makes 20" studded snow tires?!?!? I really need to convince her that I just need to keep the truck. I sure would rather see my truck slide off into a ditch rather than my dream car!!! And again, thanks for all the welcomes and comments on my military service, I appreciate it. Anyone looking to hire an ex-military hydraulic specialist with aircraft maintenance management skills? Well, it's worth a try!!!
