With both my current vehicles paid off by then and the wife's blessing already imposed, I will be getting the highest available version be it a rumored Saleen or SS. When will be the only question. If the markups push it into the 65+ range I'll wait till it goes down, anything less than that and I will sign on the dotted lines. I want mine unowned unmolested and brand spanking new:cool:

Count me in for 2 of these bad boys IF they really come to the market. The wife wants a convertible and I want the big V8 IF they offer it. I've already contacted 6 dealers and am the first in line at all six for 2 cars IF they have the options we want.

I'm defintely leasing the first year model for a few reasons.

1. If the quality isn't there and it breaks alot then they can have it back.

2. The following year or 2 there may be a more desirable model then I'll swap it. (read RS/SS vert)

3. Leasing costs less per month then buying unless you keep it at leaseend then its more $$$ but for me its a way to cover a few angles that you can't when you buy.

I'll buy one as soon as they're available, so long as there's NO dealer adjustments.

Either Z28 or SS.

Having been burned by buying the first production model of past vehicles, I'll wait until the 2010's are released. Unless my GTO gets totalled or falls apart before then, in which case I could be persuaded to pick up an '09. :) Z28 or SS for sure! :D

Nice forum here - looks promising! :)

Welcome to the board

and the thought of market adjustment scares me to think this could kill the car.

got a few ideas that when the car comes out that I can throw our way that might get a few dealers on a good or blacklist. you know ;)

i am going to wait a few years, so i can save up extra money, plus see if any changed go about like the GTO did. maybe a horsepower bump after the first year who knows??? maybe more options ater the first year. and i want to wait for some vendors to tackle this car. let over anxious people and unpaient **** up their cars first. :)

i plan on getting one also.

but when depends on a couple factors. as mentioned, I will not pay some rediculous dealer mark up. if the dealers try and do that, they will kill the car for GM and GM should threaten dealers that if they hear reports of it then they wont get ANY! see how they like that! dealer mark ups are what killed the modern Ford Thunderbird and GT. I know I would give my local dealer a lecture if they pulled that stunt.

Which model depends on price, packaging, and performance. It will definitely be a V-8. I wonder what the difference will be btw the top line and detuned V8s? If all it is is a tune and something stupid like a more restrictive exhaust (that I will replace anyways), I will definitely get the cheaper one.

I may wait a year also just so I can have my truck paid off and save up a bit more for the down payment.

Some of you have mentioned you are not interested in buying a Camaro if dealer mark-ups are being applied.

Please make sure you let your dealers and GM know this!

I personally don't think markups will be applied to this car because its supposed to be a mass-seller - not a niche car.
I don't believe in markups - everyone at GM works so hard to deliver a high value car and then dealers cash in and destroy all their hard work!

I don't believe that mark ups are going to be an issue, once dealers start getting truck load delivered any mark ups should start going away. I never heard of any mark up issues when the new mustang hit the streets a couple of years ago.

Anyway, a 5th gen would be several years away for me anyway. My wife and I are getting ready to build a house and I'll need a new truck before another Camaro. Maybe a nice pre-owned 2010 V6 vert for the wife would be nice to have in the future, we'll see.
