I must have not spooned with my car or something... cause it decided to swap langauges on me - a language not even available to SELECT in my car... GERMAN.

I did not touch anything in the car as it would mean myself going to Config and select either: English, French or Spanish. Theres no German!

It was the weirdiest thing... - also everything in the digital menu on my speedometer was all in German!

Most likely the software version you have. There have been multiple reports of the date changing on its own and a couple of others have had what you describe etc etc

There is an update and a TSB for it so your dealer should get you new hardware and the update without too much grief...

This PI was superseded to include other part numbers and update model years. Please discard PIC5231B.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment of one or more of the following:

Unable to set or change the clock, or unable to pair a Bluetooth phone, configure the vehicle, and/or change Tone/EQ settings due to the radio menus displaying in a different language or that some menu selections are blank which prevents the customer from navigating through the menus.

The customer may comment that the concern occurred after experiencing a no crank or dead battery concern as the language selections can be lost during a low battery state of charge; or that they accidentally set the language to something other than their known language.

Recommendation/Instructions:
If a customer comments of any of the above conditions, verify that the display is not completely blank. The following features will still display: Clock, HVAC inside and outside temperature, icons, scroll bars, reverse highlight cursor position and other graphical elements. In addition; RDS information, CD Text and MP3 CD disc information will still be displayed. To verify the condition is current, turn the radio on. Confirm if there is any text shown under the Antenna Icon on the left and in the small Folder Icon on the bottom right. If both of these are blank, then the issue is present and the following procedure should be used to reset the radio. If there is AM, FM or XM under the antenna icon and FAV (#) in the folder icon, then the condition is not present and no further action is required as the radio has already been reset.

Note: The radio fuse position is different for each vehicle. Use Service Information to identify the fuse powering the Radio silverbox. There is a display or faceplate fuse and if this fuse is removed it will only turn off the display, the radio will remain powered up and the condition will still be present upon reinstalling the display fuse.

To correct the condition, clear the radio memory by removing the appropriate radio fuse for 1 minute. The radio will revert back to English as the language and all menus will be populated. Turn vehicle off and open the door to allow the radio to turn off fully and store the new setting.

Note: The following information is only applicable to 2010 model year vehicles equipped with radio part number 20854718 or 20854719 only.

For 2010 model year radio Part Number 20854718 or 20854719 only:

Update the radio with the latest software available in Tis2Web.

Do not attempt to update other part number radios with software created for the 2010 model year RPO UYE radio part number 20854718 or 20854719. Permanent damage may result if any module is loaded with incorrect software.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

That's funny. Probably not very funny for you... but it's funny none the less.

Oh well, that's what TSB's are for. Right? ;)
